Getting Your Learner's License (15–17)

Complete the Florida DETS Course
Finish the required 6-hour Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course for teens, or the TLSAE course for adults 18+.

Pass the Learner's Permit Exam
Take the official Class E permit exam online (if eligible) or at a Florida DMV or Tax Collector office.

Get Your Learner's Permit
Visit a Florida DMV or Tax Collector office with the required documents, parent/guardian consent, and pass the vision and hearing tests.

Practice Driving
Hold your learner's permit for at least 12 months (or until age 18) and remain free of traffic convictions.

Pass the Driving Skills (Road) Test
Take the road test at a Florida DMV or an authorized third-party testing location.
