Getting your Florida driver’s license is easy when you know the steps. Follow the requirements below from your learner’s permit to your Class E Driver License.
Required before taking the Florida Learner's Permit Exam.
Take the exam online (if eligible) or at your local Florida DMV or Tax Collector office.
Visit a Florida DMV or Tax Collector office with the required documents, parent/guardian consent, and pass the vision and hearing tests.
Hold your learner's permit for at least 12 months or until age 18 and remain free of traffic convictions.
Take the road test at a Florida DMV or an authorized third-party testing location.
After passing the road test and meeting all Florida requirements, you'll receive your Florida Class E Driver License.
TDLR-approved Parent-Taught program for teens 14–17, including the official DPS permit test.
Complete your Texas Driver Education course online at your own pace. Your required behind-the-wheel training will be completed separately with a licensed Texas driving school.
