The (DETS) course is required for Florida teens ages 15–17 to get a learner’s permit. During July 2025, you can complete either TLSAE or DETS. ⚠️But after July 31, only DETS will be accepted

You need to score at least 80% to pass the Florida learner’s permit exam. That means correctly answering 40 out of 50 multiple-choice questions. The exam will end if you answer 11 questions incorrectly.

Florida law limits you to 3 online attempts total. If you don’t pass after those 3 tries online, you’ll need to take the test in person at your local DMV or tax collector’s office. Tip: Study carefully before each try to save time and money!
